Abarth is an Italian company of auto racing, a subsidiary of Fiat Group Automobiles, founded in 1949, in Bologna, by the italo-Austrian Carlo Abarth.
From 1949 until 1959, he devoted himself to producing bodies for some Ferrari chassis, at the time when Ferrari only supplied the chassis as well as the engine and transmission of the car, and companies such as Pininfarina, Zagato and Scaglietti, the same Abarth provided the bodywork. Abarth was sold to Fiat Group on 31 July 1971,1 and the team sold to Enzo Osella. Abarth became the section of competition from Fiat, directed by famed designer Aurelio Lampredi engines. Some models produced by the Fiat Group or its subsidiaries, such as Lancia and Autobianchi were renamed as Abarth, the most famous being the Autobianchi A112 Abarth. The brand was relaunched by Luca de Meo, who presided over it until its departure the VAG group. Behind him several directors have gone through management of Abarth, Antonino Labate or frame Magnanini. Currently is the Manager of the company Paolo Gagliardo beginning in 2015.
