Bentley Motors Limited is a factory founded in England luxury car on 18 January 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley, known also as W. O. Bentley.
Bentley was known to manufacture radial aircraft engines during World War I, the most famous being the Bentley BR1, urging airplanes Sopwith Camel. During the 1920s began the manufacture of luxury automobiles, characterized by its high mechanical reliability (such as the 3 litre Bentley and Bentley 6.5 litre Speed Six). This allowed them to shine in stress tests, winning four consecutive editions of the 24 hours of Le Mans victory.
The great depression of 1929 led to the bankruptcy to Bentley in 1931, being acquired by Rolls-Royce. Since 1998, it belongs to the Volkswagen Group.
In 2004 the British brand manufactured 7.686 automobiles, a boost notable with respect to the previous year 1,017. With these numbers surpassed the combined sales of its two major rivals: Rolls-Royce and Maybach. This increase in sales is due in part to the company pointed to unattended segment between the range of series luxury vehicles bumpers (Mercedes Benz S-class, BMW 7 series, Audi A8 and the like) and the high luxury , such as Rolls-Royce and Maybach models. His flagship was the Continental GT coupe, and expected that the Continental Flying Spur will help consolidate the achieved position.
In 2007 Bentley manufactured 10.884 vehicles, an increase of 18.6% compared to the previous year.
In 2009 the Bentley range comprised the following models: Continental GT's $200,000 (Coupe) and GTC (cabriolet) of 560 HP thanks to its Volkswagen W12 of 6 litres and 2 turbo engine, both have all-wheel drive.
